On this three-hour walking tour, your informed guide will talk about the exciting history of how a band of brave men and women in New York City played their part in the Underground Railroad running from the South northward. You’ll learn about the riots, revolts and dramatic escapes of this time and hear tales of courage and triumph about real New Yorkers who risked their life and property to help people fleeing for freedom. You’ll also see one of the actual former meeting points on the Underground Railroad and visit an archeological site and memorial dedicated to the memory of enslaved Africans in colonial America.
