Tibet House US has announced their next art exhibit, Form Is Emptiness, which will feature the vibrant works of renowned artist Michael Katz. The exhibit will run from March 14, 2013 through May 14, 2013, with an opening reception to be held on March 14th from 6-8pm ET. A portion of all sales will benefit Tibet House US and its ongoing work to preserve and present Tibetan culture.
Michael Katz is a celebrated writer, doctor, and visual artist based in New York City. Form Is Emptiness, his first exhibit for the Tibet House US, is an impressive display of his abstract expressionist work. Working with acrylic and mixed media, Katz skillfully combines fragments into cohesive and dynamic images full of color and depth. Each piece is reflective of the energy and layers of the Buddhist journey, communicating a sense of possibility, freedom, and spontaneity. In addition to the influence of Buddhism, Katz’ artwork is inspired by music, yoga, dance, and particularly his career as a psychologist. Known for his dream workshops, as well as authoring two books on the subject, the connection between his art and psychology is, as the artist says, “just there. My paintings are an amalgamation of who I am.”
