Using Fungi to Replace Plastics
The Cooper Union (7 E. 7th St., Rm. 215, Manhattan)

Ecovative has spent five years developing an alternative to plastics that are grown using fungi and agricultural waste. Sam Harrington and Sue Van Hook of Ecovative will talk about the inspiration and thinking behind these materials from two perspectives: biology/mycology and engineering/design. These environmentally responsible innovations are influenced by natural systems design, and utilize billions of years of natural R&D.
