Winter Locavore: How to Eat Locally During the Winter
West Elm Market (50 Washington St., Brooklyn)
$20, registration required, proceeds benefit Just Food

Join Just Food Trainer Leda Meredith at West Elm Market and learn how to enjoy local, affordable, healthy foods during the winter months!

Eating local is easy during the warm months when farmers’ markets and CSAs are in full swing, but what about during the depths of a Northeastern winter? Don’t worry, you don’t have to live on potatoes and cabbage, nor compromise your commitment to local foods by resorting to the stuff imported from more tropical climes. Leda Meredith, author of The Locavore’s Handbook: The Busy Person’s Guide to Eating Local on a Budget, will show you delicious, nutritious, convenient and inexpensive ways to keep it local this winter.

All proceeds benefit Just Food, a non-profit organization that connects communities and local farms with the resources and support they need to make fresh, locally grown food accessible to all New Yorkers. Just Food provides regional farmers and food producers, CSA organizers and everyday eaters with the resources and support they need to establish and experience healthy food systems—in every neighborhood.
