With a screening of “Cold Shutdown: Fukushima One Year After” (32 min, 2012, Japanese & English with English subtitles)

“Cold Shutdown” is a visit with the citizens of Fukushima Prefecture as they struggle to protect the lives of their children, and forge a new kind of anti-nuclear movement: setting up radiation testing sites, food distribution centers, and occupying the grounds of the Ministry of Trade in Tokyo. Join Sabu Kohso and Yuko Tonohira of Todos Somos Japon, an organization dedicated to linking the ongoing de-nuclearizing movement in Japan to larger global movements, as they discuss the significance of newly developing forms of struggle in Japan with Martin Lucas, the film’s director.
