First, a screening of a short documentary film – the remarkable story of Suprabha Beckjord, the only woman to ever complete the world’s longest certified road race – the Self-Transcendence 3,100-mile foot race. She is also the only individual, man or woman, to have completed this unbelievable distance 13 years in a row. A Q&A with Suprabha and fellow ultra-distance champion Dipali Cunningham will follow the film.

Australian Dipali Cunningham has been running competitively for the last 30 years, and has completed over 100 marathons and 31 multi-day races including two 1,000 mile races. She currently holds the World Record for the women’s open six-day road race, as well as six Australian National Records.

Then, “Guinness Record Breaker of the Decade” Ashrita Furman shares inspiration and insight into how he has set over 326 records by applying meditation techniques and the philosophy of self-transcendence promoted by his spiritual teacher, Sri Chinmoy. Ashrita has captured the public’s imagination by breaking Guinness records under outrageous conditions and in the most exotic places. He currently holds more than 124 records, including the official record for holding the most records!

The Power Within is part of the Festival of Meditation and Spirituality taking place in New York City in the month of March, sponsored by the Sri Chinmoy Centre.
