Singer Ronnissey, guitarist Ravi Marr. bassist Christian Rourke and drummer Jonathan Joyce recreate the songs & stage performance of The Smiths with stunning authenticity & attention to detail, right down to the last gladioli left on stage when the band is through. The Sons & Heirs have been performing at some of the best venues on the east coast since 2006 and have shared the stage with the likes of Smiths bassist Andy Rourke and Morrissey drummer Spencer Cobrin.

Deon is a reclusive poet in a coma who encounters historical figures she’s always admired on a journey through her own memories as she attempts to wake herself up. While her step-brother and sister sit at her hospital bed wishing her dead, Deon explores her mind, with Frédéric Chopin, Bartolomeo Vanzetti and Russell Blackwell as her guides in an effort to find bravery and knowledge inside of herself. Ouroboros Co. utilizes experimental text, music, sound, visuals and movement to create an experience that stimulates the unconscious mind and investigate how our memories are created, stored and retrieved.

The Kurt Hahn Expeditionary Learning School, Launch Expeditionary Learning School, and Metropolitan Expeditionary Learning School, are collaboratively sponsoring a film screening in Crown Heights, Brooklyn of Jyllian Gunter’s documentary, The New Public. This is a joint effort to bring together our diverse school communities in dialogue with each other to talk candidly about what it takes to start and work at small, new schools in New York City. The filmmaker will be in attendance, and the screening will be followed by a rich discussion facilitated by Becca Tatistcheff. We hope this event will be the first of many to foster greater collaboration, solidarity and collegiality between like-minded EL schools that proudly serve NYC students and families.
