If you’ve ever considered getting into 3D printing but unsure if you have the tech savvy nature to do so, this workshop will answer some of your questions and give you enough guidance to feel confident in your purchase of a 3D printer. Today you will learn all about 3D printing and scanning and its many applications. There will be three main topics discussed and will cover a variety of subcategories regarding 3D printing and scanning. First, Josh Martin will cover the essentials of 3D printing. He will explain what a 3D printer is, how it works and what materials it uses. He will talk about how people are using them both for home and professional uses. After the printing workshop, we will move onto 3D scanning. Now that you’ve got a 3D printer and you printed everything you could ever imagine Jay Albright will teach you all about the essentials of 3D scanning and design. 3D scanning is the best place to start and will have you printing your own designs in hours! Topics covered: the different types of scanners available, some of the best objects for scanning, compiling and print, how to go from scan to print. When you’re finished with this workshop, you will be comfortable scanning faces, plants, clay models, broken appliance pieces and more. You will know what software to use to clean up the file and send it off to your 3D printer.More info See more free New York City events & things to do on Nifty NYC.
