7pm-10pm The Czech Center in New York invites you to a new Rooftop Ciné-Concert Series focused on the “Fallen Woman”—a popular sultry theme in the early decades of cinema. Persuaded by seducers, driven by poverty, or simply unwilling to wait, these women protagonists lose their virtue through promiscuity in an era of supposed moral purity. The hot new summer series, running every Tuesday in July through August starting July 7th, features Czech and American silent films, two “early talkies,” and an array of live music performed by exceptionally gifted musicians from the Czech Republic and the United States, including internationally-renowned cellist Jiří Bárta and master jazz double bassist Henry Grimes, among others. Don your flapper dresses and swanky Roaring Twenties style as the series launches on July 7, at 7 pm, with the screening of the Czech silent classic The Loves of Kacenka Strnadova (Lásky Kačenky Strnadové), accompanied by the talented Francesco Boccaro Trio. Enjoy a delicious welcome drink, mingle with a delightful crowd, view the exquisite skyline as the sun sets to live music, and savor the cinematic stars beneath the stars. The series concludes on August 25th with a Wrap Party where guests dress in their favorite 1920s fashion to finish out the series with the dramatic film Madame X.See more cheap New York City events & things to do on Nifty NYC.
