6pm to 8pm The National Academy's 5th Avenue mansion on NYC's museum mile plays stage to a high-voltage pop-up art exhibition curated by Venetian artist Maurizio Pellegrin. In the museum's stone rotunda hangs a deeply poignant, starkly beautiful site-specific installation of bronze and steel by Tess O'Dwyer on the sexual abuse of children entitled "Remnants of Violence". The show also features uplifting and politically insightful art videos, sculptures in wood, plaster, cloth and bronze, figurative and abstract paintings, and multimedia works. Featured international and local artists include Ayumi Shibata, Mary Mattingly, Tess O'Dwyer, and Jos Stumpe. The show coincides with the popular retrospective of Swedish master Zorn.
