515 W 26TH STREET NEW YORK NY 10001 Berlin-based artist, Jen Ray, whose work explores the power relationships inherent in feminism, returns to the U.S. after a decade abroad with an exhibition and performance, Deep Cuts, at new Chelsea gallery, Albertz Benda. Deep Cuts will feature large-scale paintings of warrior women, who are authoritative and self-contained in fantasy worlds from October 8 through November 7. Simultaneous to the opening, Ray will present a performance on October 8 at 6pm, where she will lead a procession of women, including musician Honeychild Coleman. The performers, like the figures in Ray's paintings and the artist herself, are unabashedly present and make their existence brazenly celebratory.
