In its first exhibition on the East Coast, Les Colombes (The Doves), a multi-media art installation by Michael Pendry will be presented at The Church of Heavenly Rest, 1085 Fifth Avenue at 90th Street in New York, from April 12 through August 18. Thousands of white origami doves, folded by people of all ages, races and faiths, will soar over the nave, accompanied by a contemplative light and sound show, and carrying a message of peace, resilience, and hope. Since 2007, Les Colombes has travelled the globe from Jerusalem to Munich, Salisbury and London and most recently Grace Cathedral in San Francisco. This exhibition is done in partnership with Hudson Link for Higher Education in Prison, to draw attention to the issue of mass incarceration in the United States, and to what "release" means to those in prison or newly released.
