A performative party by event producer/shot luge artist Larissa Hayden. Part of Flux City Six, curated by Seth Timothy Larson and Abigail Beth Entsminger. Flux City 6 is a four week cycle of city creation and destruction and rebirth and cataclysm and phoenix-rising-from-the-ashes and Godzilla-traipsing-in-from-the-sea-in-a-breath-of-fire-and-chaos. "The Destruction of Civilization (By Toga Party)" is the forth installation in the series. Guests will join together to pay homage to the fall of Rome, as the evening descends into bacchanalian debauchery, and collaboratively DESTROY A MODEL CITY. The centerpiece of the evening will be a great structural innovation that was said by some to lead to the Roman downfall: the aqueducts. While the original aqueducts distributed life-giving liquid ("water") to the ancient Roman people, they were also contaminated with lead, which thereby contaminated the minds and bodies of the people who consumed it, leading to madness and ultimately the final destruction of the city of Rome. Thus, a giant aqueduct shot luge. Expect: Certain ruin, dance music, drinking games, historic references, performances, mythologies, anachronisms, factual errors, selfie booths and most importantly, TOGAS. Guests are encouraged to wear their own Roman-inspired attire or togas to the event. For guests without togas, custom-made togas will be offered upon entry ($5 donations recommended).
