In celebration of its 10th anniversary, charity: water is taking over Brookfield Place with an interactive exhibition designed to show the public what life is like for the 663 million people across the globe who lack access to clean water. From August 9-28, the Brookfield Place Winter Garden will be filled with virtual reality screening pods where visitors can watch charity: water’s VR film “The Source”, which follows a 13-year-old Ethiopian girl as her village gets clean water for the first time. There will also be weekend “water walks” on the upper Waterfront Plaza where visitors are challenged to walk with 40-pound jerry cans of water, giving them a small taste of the hours-long walk to collect water that countless women and children around the world do every day. Thanks to a generous donor, every viewing of the film or participation in the water walk will unlock a $30 donation to give one person clean water, with the goal of bringing clean water to 10,000 people in need.
