Sonic awareness can deeply influence our knowledge of our habitat, of interior space, and of global out-of-sight networks? Using this sensibility as a part of the design tool kit we can augment our experience of the built and natural environments. Beginning with a presentation of innovative projects, including SOUNDSCAPE NEW YORK, (exhibited at the Museum of the City of New York, March-August 2015) Karen Van Lengen will demonstrate how the sonic characteristics of our environment reveal layers of information that carry the potential to uncover new communicative relationships in both the private and public realms.
