Ronald Reagan, in likely our favorite of his actions, declared National Ice Cream Month/Day in 1984, and we at the Flea have been performing our civic duty by presenting an annual ice cream bonanza at the markets since 2011. For obvious reasons it's always one of our most popular events of the year, which inspires us to unearth the latest and greatest makers, who are in turn inspired to create downright magical flavors for...you. "Creme de la Creme," as we're now calling it, will feature a dozen ice creamers serving more than 50 flavors at both Fleas: in Fort Greene on Saturday, July 19, and in Williamsburg on Sunday, July 20. Love pie a la Mode? Try Butter & Scotch's now-legendary/notorious Pie Shake. Fruity? The caramelized nectarine ice cream from Fort Greene's Fort Grace is not to be missed. Classic ice cream cookie sandwiches from Flea faves The Good Batch, or for our dairy-free friends, try the vegan ice cream donut sandwich from Steve’s Ice Cream. Odd Fellows of Williamsburg always have innovative flavors up their sleeve, newcomer Hay Rosie of Cobble Hill are creative as can be, and new shops Morgenstern's (LES) and Victory Garden (Carmine St.) are joining us too. Ice cream floats, frozen Indian lassi/yogurt (Monsieur Singh), goat milk ice cream (Victory Garden), dairy-free (Alchemy Creamery), vegan, ice fruit pops (People's Pops), Mexican paletas (La Newyorkina) served in cups, cones, sandwiches, the Flea's annual ice cream bonanza has something for everyone.
