March 15th is National Egg Cream Day and we’re getting a head start with this workshop and contest celebrating the quintessential Lower East Side drink! Experts will explain the history of the classic drink and show participants how to make their own. Then it’s competition time! Everyone will be invited to concoct their own drinks using both traditional and more daring ingredients – everything from chocolate and vanilla to lavender and lychee. The brave can submit their innovative egg creams for judging by an esteemed panel, including Carmine from Hester Street’s Classic Coffee Shop and the folks from Brooklyn Farmacy and Soda Fountain- but only one lucky person will emerge as the "Egg Cream King/Queen of Eldridge Street”!
