6-8 pm Fans of classical-contemporary and jazz will be pleased to know that New Music in Bryant Park will be returning to the park for its second year! Like last year, the performers have won grants from Chamber Music America to compose these pieces of new music. Funding for the commissioning programs of Chamber Music America is provided by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation. Following music's current trend of playing multiple genres of music in a single performance, the New Music series will feature two ensembles each week. One ensemble plays in the classical style, and the other plays jazz. Though this year's series is a bit shorter at 5 weeks, you will have the opportunity to see more ensembles perform for a total of 10. Each evening, the jazz ensemble will take the stage, followed by the classical ensemble. Join us as we push the boundaries of genre!
