Classes start off with an overview of basic movements and positions. After that, participants are given the opportunity to put on real fencing gear to practice their new skills. Fencing opens its season on Friday, April 15 in front of the New York Public Library at 41st Street, just south of the main stairs. Lessons run from 1:30pm-2:30pm and return each Friday through June 3. Although classes occur weekly throughout the spring, classes do not build off one another and each class is relatively similar. Participants are welcome to come back for a second class, however they are only allowed to pre-register once to secure their spot – the second time around, they must take a chance and drop by to see if space allows. You can pre-registration by calling Manhattan Fencing Center at 212-382-2255. Drop-ins will only be accepted if space allows, and participants must be 16 or older.More info See more free New York City events & things to do on Nifty NYC.
