Anillado technique is similiar to knitting but done using only one needle. Examples of this special technique are only found during the time corresponding to Paracas Necrópolis to Nazca (700 BCE and 300 BCE). This technique was mainly used in the decoration of the edges the large mantles, that were placed together with the individual within the funerary bales of the Paracas and Nazca cultures. The most recurrent designs made with Anillado were anthropomorphic characters, different species of birds, among them the hummingbird, trophy heads, pallars, etc. In this workshop, students will learn about two types of anillado: flat anillado and three-dimensional anillado.
