Syndicated will co-host the second annual Ecuadorian Film Festival, a showcase of some of the country’s most acclaimed recent films, from features to documentaries to shorts. Seven screenings ($10 each) for will be held June 4th and 5th with a portion of ticket sales donated to The Ecuadorian Shelter Initiative, which aids victims of April’s earthquake by building shelters with recycled materials recovered from the debris. Films include Thirst 6/4, a thriller that follows a young blind woman as she and her friends encounter something strange and unsettling on a visit to a country house; DreamTown 6/5, a 2016 documentary about an impoverished Afro-Ecuadorian town that produces some of the country’s top soccer players; and The Decorruption 6/5 about a government employee in a dystopian society who violently rebels against a corrupt system. Tickets are available on the Ecuadorian Film Festival official site and will also be sold on Syndicated’s website. In addition, Syndicated will host the festival’s award ceremony on June 5th (free attendance) – a jury of industry professionals will present the award for Best Film and the public’s vote for the Audience Award will also be revealed.
