With charming accordian music from Matt Veligdan to accompany your drinks, vintage footage of romance and urban life on archival 16mm prints curated by Tommy Stathes, and a peek into the romantic correspondence between Lucille and Alfred Kolkin from the BHS archives, this Free Friday is the place to be for any history lover! Shelf Life: Stories from the Stacks 6pm-6:20pm 7:30pm-7:50pm During World War II, the Brooklyn Navy Yard served as the largest shipbuilding facility in the world. Join us in the Othmer Library & Archives for a glimpse into the life of a passionate young woman who worked as a mechanic in the shipfitting shop from 1942 to 1944. This story of young love and dedicated service between Lucille and Alfred Kolkin is illustrated by their identification badges, affectionate love letters, and oral histories from the BHS collections.
