Dip into the 777 Theatre for the off-Broadway premiere of Strawberry & Chocolate, which is also the premiere in English of this three-character play that was later made into an Oscar-nominated film. David is a university student in Havana, Cuba, in 1979 when he meets Diego, a gay artist who’s unhappy with the Castro regime’s attitude toward the LGBT community. Diego initiates a friendship with David with sexual intentions, not knowing that David’s homophobic classmate Miguel has plans to use David to spy on Diego, who is marked as dangerous to the Communist cause. Tony Award winner Roger Robinson directs.
