Arthur Miller’s award-winning play A View From the Bridge is a passionate, emotionally affecting drama about Italian-American immigrant life in the 1950s. It’s the story of Brooklyn longshoreman Eddie Carbone, a man who holds family and honor above all else — and yet betrays them both. Eddie is infatuated with the orphaned niece he and his wife have been raising as a daughter, but when she falls for one of her aunt’s recently immigrated cousins, jealousy send all their lives on a tragic course. Originally produced in 1956, the play earned a 1998 Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Revival of a Play, a 1998 Tony Award for Best Revival of a Play, and a 2010 Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Revival of a Play.
