A Craigslist scam, a case of culture shock, some stolen theater seats, wedding-bell jitters, career anxiety and more — it’s all here, and all from a very New York perspective, in New York Now. A short play festival of fresh, New York-set comedies, New York Now packs six funny, relatable plays into just over an hour and a half. The works include Mary-Elizabeth Schurrer and Millie Thorne’s When the Brit Hit the Fan, about a young British girl’s arrival in the city, Annie Hayes’ The Writer, about a couple’s encounter with a mysterious scribe, and Katie Escoto’s With Everything, which finds a bride-to-be questioning the future of her relationship.
