Girl Choir of South Florida
St. Patrick’s Cathedral (460 Madison Ave., Manhattan)
The Girl Choir of South Florida is one of the nation’s premiere young women’s choral ensembles. Comprised of one hundred and fifty girls form the Fort Lauderdale area, the Girl Choir presents multiple performances each year, featuring music from across the ages and around the world. Girls study the instrument of the human voice, learn music literacy and performance skills, and develop life-long friendships with girls who share a love of music. The Concert Choir and Chamber Singers are the ambassadors of the Girl Choir, touring each summer both domestically and internationally, working with renowned conductors, including Kari Ala Pollanen, Anton Armstrong, Sandra Snow, David Brunner, Robert Isaacs, and Lisa Graham.
This summer, our award winning ensembles will inspire audiences with an exploration of beauty in a program entitled The Beauty in Everything. Selections include everything from the traditional “Shaker Suite”, to spiritual’s such as “Bright Mansions” arranged by K. Lee Scott, to work by modern composers such as “Lux Aeterna” by Z. Randall Stroope.
