Saturday, June 1st: ‘Kitty City’ Opening Day

Kitty City
Flux Factory (39-31 29th St., Queens)
Noon-6pm
Free

For Animals, Inc,, a no-kill animal shelter in Ozone Park, is teaming up with Flux Factory, a Long Island City art collective for “Kitty City,” an inter-generational experiment in collaboration and pedagogy, designed to encourage shared decision-making power and challenge the way we think about the urban environment.

Throughout May, Flux Factory has been designing and building Kitty City with the help of local children. On June 1st, For Animals will flood Kitty City with cats and kittens during a ribbon cutting ceremony that will double as an adoption drive.

For Animals, Inc. is able to offer adoptions free-of-charge, through their participation in the fourth Maddie’s Pet Adoption Days, sponsored by the Alameda, CA-based Maddie’s Fund. There will be no lag time in the adoption process and new owners can leave with their Kitty citizen on the same day.
