MCA Day 2013: Celebrating the Life of Adam Yauch
Littlefield (622 Degraw St., Brooklyn)
n May 4, 2012, the passing of Adam Yauch sent a shockwave around the globe. Beastie heads from Astoria to Australia found ourselves mourning the sudden absence of a fixture in our most beloved music and memories. So in 2012 we discovered an outlet in MCA Day: an outlet in which to communicate, express ourselves, and offer our Gratitude for the gift of Adam Yauch.
In 2013, I think we should stand together again. Even stronger.
Adam Yauch, through humanity and music changed the world for the better. On the anniversary of his passing, we just want to say thanks. On Saturday May 4th, all of us whose lives were touched by MCA’s work will once again have the opportunity to gather, create and celebrate the life of Adam Nathaniel Yauch. Join us.
The festivities will kick off at 11am at Littlefield (http://www.littlefieldnyc.com/), a performance and art space which is one of Brooklyn’s many hidden treasures, with art to view, music to vibe to, folks to chill with, and a few surprises to bring you joy. Plus, we’ll have that original big ol’ Boombox and a grip of fresh batteries. HELLOOOOOOO BROOKLYYYYNNNN!!!
Giving thanks is still free – there is no cost to attend. However, as generosity and activism were huge parts of Adam’s life, we will honor his vision by offering opportunities to to contribute to a number of local charities. Show up, dig deep, get down, speak out and take it in… “BBoys of the WORLD….. UNITE!”
Let’s keep it going full steam. Let’s light it up once again. Let’s shine like the sun.
