Monday, April 22nd: Local Theads, Global Themes Fashion Show

Local Theads, Global Themes Fashion Show
Queens College, Student Union Ballroom (65-30 Kissena Blvd., 4th Fl., Queens)
6:30-9pm
Free, RSVP: events@cerru.org

Our fashion show will explore how fashion engages with sartorial traditions from different cultures and creates new expressions, identities, and stories through creative design. The evening will feature traditional/indigenous garb as symbols of local diversity juxtaposed with designs inspired by themes like diversity, migration, integration, and ethnic, religious, gender and cultural connections

These pieces will explore the movement of people and objects/materials and the metaphoric links between geographic places. Guests will also enjoy a poetry reading on migration, a question & answer session on the garments, and a bellydance performace.

Come dressed to express your identity! Kosher refreshments will be served.
