This spring-long series of concerts stars three of the region’s most impressive classical ensembles, who’ll shine a spotlight on the great works of women composers. New York’s premier viol consort, Parthenia, gets things off to a fascinating start by combining electronics, vocals and their ancient instruments for a performance of contemporary classical music. Next up is Quintet of the Americas from Queens. This acclaimed woodwind ensemble is set to focus on new pieces by North and South American women, including Kate Neal, Magda Santos and Beata Moon. Finally, Canta Libre Chamber Ensemble highlights compositions for flute, harp and strings, which includes their own commission, February Swale, by Beth Anderson. Please see the full event description for more info on the composers and musicians.
