Street Types: Turn of the Century Portraiture by Alice Austen
Alice Austen House (2 Hylan Blvd., Staten Island)
Join us in celebrating the opening reception of our new exhibition. This show explores the portraits Alice Austen made on the streets of Manhattan at the turn of the last century. Her curious work captured the face of New York City’s working class, as the population exploded with an influx of new immigrants, hoping to find the American Dream. The exhibition runs from April 14 through June 23.
