The National Book Foundation and Pratt Institute will present the screening of three films that were adapted from the nominated National Book Award books Lolita, The Cool World, and The Invention of Hugo Cabret. The Cool World was written by Warren Miller and adapted to the screen by Shirley Clarke.

Following each screening there will be a panel discussion focusing on “faithfulness” in book-to-film adaptation. Amy Taubin, the film critic, will be part of the panel
