Experience a series of five exceptional films at Symphony Space’s African Diaspora International Film Festival. Telling the stories of Africans who have emigrated or otherwise been dispersed from their homeland, the festival selections are engrossing and thoughtful explorations on exodus. The festival opens with Wan Pipel (One People) about a Surinamese man living in Amsterdam who returns home to care for his ill mother only to question his identity after setting foot on native land. The festival also includes 2012 Sundance award winner Middle of Nowhere, Cannes selection The Pirogue, La Playa D.C. set in Bogota, Colombia, and Return to Gorée about African singer Youssou N’Dour.
