Saturday, February 2nd: Make a Kerchief for Your Valentine

Make a Kerchief for Your Valentine
BLDG 92 (63 Flushing Ave., Brooklyn)
1-4pm
$15 in advance

In honor of our new exhibit, Reflections on Rosie, and just in time for Valentine’s Day, join us at BLDG 92 for a marbling workshop with fashion designers, Eko-Lab.

Marbling is a centuries-old design technique for producing one-of-a kind paper and textile prints. Eko-Lab creates new and unique fashion garments and accessories and will teach learners of all ages how to use this technique to print their own silk handkerchiefs.

During WWII, every “Rosie” needed a cap or a kerchief to keep her hair out of her face and away from dangerous machinery. Participants will make their own Rosie bandanas and also hear stories and see images of real-life Navy Yard Rosies on the job.
