Elf, the charming Christmas musical based on the hugely popular 2003 film, returns to Broadway’s Al Hirschfeld Theatre. Broadway favorite and New York native Wayne Knight (Seinfeld’s Newman, Jurassic Park) dons the Santa suit for this funny, touching show that tells the tale of young orphan William “Buddy” Hobbs, who is raised as an elf in Santa’s workshop before discovering that he’s actually human. On his coming-of-age quest for identity, Buddy must help his human family — and the city of New York — remember the true meaning of season. Jordan Gelber (Avenue Q, Boardwalk Empire, Dark Horse) plays Buddy in the musical, which was adapted by Bob Martin and Thomas Meehan, with a score by Matthew Sklar and Chad Beguelin. Tony winner Casey Nicholaw (The Book of Mormon) directs.
