Bassist Victor Wooten, best known as a founding member of the supergroup Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, and guitarist Jimmy Herring, a member of Widespread Panic and Aquarium Rescue Unit, jam together at B.B. King Blues Club. A five-time Grammy winner with the Flecktones, Wooten has won every major award given to a bass guitarist, including being voted Bassist of the Year in Bass Player Magazine’s readers poll three times (the only person to win it more than once.) In 2011, Rolling Stone voted him one of the Top Ten Bassists of All Time. He’s been nominated for multiple Grammy Awards as a solo artist, and performed with stars spanning the musical galaxy, including Chick Corea, The Dave Matthews Band, Bootsy Collins, Branford Marsalis, Mike Stern, Prince and many more. Born in North Carolina, Jimmy Herring is a top name on the jazz fusion and jam band scene. A founding member of Col. Bruce Hampton and The Aquarium Rescue Unit and long-time member of Widespread Panic, he’s also worked with the legendary Phil Lesh, The Other Ones, Frogwings, Jazz is Dead and more. He has a reputation as a real guitarist’s guitarist, and his collaboration with Wooten should be an exciting one indeed.
