In celebration of the Day of the Dead, Mexican painter Frida Kahlo revisits the living world in the play Frida Liberada. Kahlo, played by actress Diomary Nunez, shares her life experiences through monologue and songs in Spanish and English. Known for her striking self-portraits and volatile marriage with fellow artist Diego Rivera, Frida has fascinated for years, inspiring legions of artists, writers and musicians. This play, written by Brigitte Viellieu-Davis, has toured libraries across New York City and now returns to Urban Stages, where it premiered in 2009. After the show, mingle with other young art supporters over margaritas and a Mexican hors d’oeuvres buffet, with enchiladas, tamales and more.
