Thursday, October 18th: ‘Steam Punk’

Steam Punk
The Gershwin Hotel (7 E. 27th St., Manhattan)
7pm
Free

Part of a project that LaFemina began during his time as a Gershwin Artist in Residence, Steam Punk is a celebration of New York–the grit of the City and the romance of it. The book gets its title not from the Victorian-alternative fashion trends of the day, but from the water towers found on the roofs of this city.

LaFemina is the author of nine books, including the Anthony Piccione/MAMMOTH Books award-winning Graffiti Heart, the Bordighera prize winning The Parakeets of Brooklyn and last year’s Vanishing Horizon. He was also awarded the Pushcart Prize, a Michigan Individual Artist Fellowship, and a Gilmore Emerging Artist Fellowship. A former punk musician, LaFemina’s readings are known for their high energy presentations. He teaches at Frostburg State University in Frostburg, Maryland.
