Wednesday, October 10th: New Green City 2012

New Green City is a hands-on, free event full day of action and dialogue, alongside our Union Square Greenmarket, where participants of all ages can learn how to live a low impact lifestyle in New York City! Activities include:

• Relevant, action-oriented workshops led by The New School and others

• Numerous interactive exhibits and hands-on learning

• DIY tutorials on weatherization techniques

• Walk through “Recyclarium” and learn how 3Rs work hosted by Sims Metal Management

• Learn about New York City’s bike share program with Citibank

• Watch chefs go head to head at a Solar Cook-Off with locally grown, seasonal food

• Make Green Art for All Ages

• Kids Korner with interactive activities to teach children about conservation

• Onsite compost drop-off and recycling for textiles and cell phones

• Meet local leaders in the sustainability movement
