While many think of Jane Austen as a writer of romances, the fact is that Austen’s heroines were strong and independent-minded, and her novels can be viewed as studies in the currencies of every society, no matter how polite: sex, money and power. Join us to learn why people have been reading, writing about, and adapting Austen’s work for 200 years.

Speaker: Austen expert Annette LeClair is a Librarian at Schaffer Library, Union College.
