Saturday, September 29th: Flapper Holiday + Free Dance Lessons

Flapper Holiday
Flute (205 W. 54th St., Manhattan)
8pm doors, 8:30pm free dance lessons

Tonight’s theme is “Flapper Holiday” night. Come in your finest flapper outfit or suit, Jazz Age swimwear or vintage evening attire and celebrate in decadent style with live hot jazz, classic cocktails and good times!

Molly’s silvery voice and lush, elegant vocal style evoke the big band singers of the 1930s and breathe new life into familiar old standards. Originally from Roseville, California, she made her singing debut at the Sacramento Jazz Jubilee with the Reynolds Brothers’ Rhythm Rascals when she was eleven. Since moving to New York City in 2003, Molly has appeared with such prominent jazz artists as Randy Reinhart, Howard Alden, Jon-Erik Kellso, Kevin Dorn, Mark Shane and Vince Giordano’s Nighthawks. Most recently, Molly can be heard on the soundtrack of the HBO series “Boardwalk Empire.” Molly has also had her vocals featured on the Discovery Channel.

The party is co-sponsored by the Dorothy Parker Society. Join fans of the poet, author and critic as we toast one of our favorite celebrities from the Jazz Age!

Free dance lessons by our good friends Jeri Lynn Astra and Neal Groothuis will be at 8:30. Come out and learn a few steps before the band goes on.

Dress code: Jazz Age, evening wear, 1920s, ‘30s and ‘40s vintage is encouraged! Coats for gentlemen; no sneakers or shorts.
