Enjoy a red, white and blue night of music when conductor Bramwell Tovey leads the New York Philharmonic through some distinctly American songs. For this special concert, the Phil will be joined by The Hellcats and Jazz Knights from the West Point Band, as well as soprano Tracy Dahl. The program opens with three dance episodes from Leonard Bernstein’s musical On the Town and “Glitter and Be Gay” from his operetta Candide. Then enjoy the music of George Gershwin including Hugo Montenegro’s arrangement of “Promenade (Walking the Dog)” as well as several numbers arranged by Tovey. The program will wrap up with swinging big band hits from the ’40s.
