Classical music and literature have a long history of influencing, intriguing, and collaborating with each other. In the 21st century New York art scene, however, it can often feel as if the cultural world has broken off into many different self-contained atomized spheres. To help combat this feeling, Safe Space attempts to bring together distinguished classical musicians, respected authors, and open-minded audience members into a friendly environment where they can explore unfamiliar topics. The idea is to allow literature loving musicians to talk about books and sonically inclined author to revel their musical side.

On June 28, Dinnerstein will play Schuman’s Kinderszenen and Bach’s French Suite No. 5 in G Major, Krauss will read, and the two artists will have a conversation and answer questions. Audience members are invited to join the conversation.
