This is the first event of the Brooklyn Bodega’s “Told It First Hand“ series.

Featuring Marley Marl (Hip-Hop Legendary Producer), Wes Jackson (Executive Director, The Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival), and surprise guests. Join us for candid, memorable conversations on rapper Heavy D a.k.a “The Overweight Lover,” who passed away on November 8, 2011, and his influence on the Hip-Hop community.

This event is part of BHS’s spring series, Inventing Brooklyn, which examines key people who have influenced Brooklyn and highlights cultural trends rooted in Brooklyn’s rich and diverse history.

Note: According to Brooklyn Bodega, “The Overweight Lover” is one of Heavy D’s nicknames. The panelists will be discussing his career from this early name to when he collaborated with Biggie and beyond.
