A Toast to Your Influence: How Conscientious Consumers Can Change Business
Wix Lounge (10 West 18th St., 2nd Fl., Manhattan)
Join ethikus & GreenspaceNYC for an evening of free food, drink & networking to celebrate you, the ethical shopper!
Everyday people are the new brand managers. What an individual chooses to buy or say can change the strategic direction of global companies. How can this power be harnessed?
With Shop Your Values Week, of course! Coming in May, it is the first celebration of local businesses in NYC that take ethics and sustainability seriously. On March 23rd at the Wix Lounge we will discuss this and similar initiatives and how it is possible to transform ‘business as usual’ into ‘business as good!’
Presenters include ethikus founder and former IBM Corporate Social Responsibility consulting leader Jeff Hittner, who will discuss how modern technology inserts consumer values prominently into the considerations of big and small companies. Laura Scherling and Laurence Wilse-Samson of GreenspacesNYC, a social media platform that advertises local sustainability initiatives, will discuss how their network of participants and educational events can support the groundswell of green projects. John Marsh, Chef & Managing Partner of Greensquare Tavern, will also talk about his passion for local farm-to-table food and how he runs his restaurant to align with his values.
Come for the discussion, stay for the food and drink! Starting off with local hors-d’oeuvres from Greensquare Tavern and tasty Brooklyn Brewery beers, we will wrap up with all-natural cupcakes from Jessy Cupcake Company and organic libations from Greenbar, sponsored by Eco-Bartender Kyle Bullen.
