The Academy Theater at Lighthouse International (111 E. 59th St., Manhattan)

Cavalcade, the 1933 Academy Award® winner for Best Picture, is based on Noël Coward’s smash 1931 London theatrical production. It follows a wealthy family as they experience key historical events in the first three decades of the 20th century, including the Titanic tragedy and the first World War.

This screening, hosted by exhibition curator Brad Rosenstein, is presented in celebration of the opening of the Academy’s touring exhibition Star Quality: The World of Noël Coward at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center which opens March 12 through August 18.

A display of images and posters from Coward’s films will also debut in the lobby of the Academy Theater. The Academy’s screening and display are part of a citywide celebration of Coward.
