Spectacle Theater (124 S. 3rd St., Brooklyn)
An explicit treatment of sex as obsession, connection and distraction. Starring Sylvia Kristel (the softcore star of Emmanuelle) and Joe Dallesandro (Warhol’s muse) and scored by some of the biggest acts of the 70s, such as Elton John and Pink Floyd. Borowczyk remains one of the most underappreciated filmmakers of his era. Still, his work continues to resonate, and his themes of casual brutality, malignant fate, and the fragile representations of the past, inspire and haunt generations of maverick filmmakers.
