Saturday, February 11th: ‘DIEGO RIVERA: Murals’ Presentation

This lecture/slideshow will focused specifically on works created by the artist’s during his stay in New York, drawing a succinct portrait of Rivera as a highly cosmopolitan figure who moved between Russia, Mexico, and the United States, and will offer a fresh look at the intersection of art making and radical politics in the 1930s.

This lecture is presented by Angela Garcia ( B.A. Fine Arts, Syracuse University). Ms Garcia is currently Director of the CAQ Art Gallery in New York. She teaches Art History at City College, CUNY and lectures at The Museum of Modern Art. Formerly worked as Chief Curator and Director of Cultural Services at the Centro Leon Museum in Santiago, Dominican Republic and as Museum Educator at El Museo del Barrio in New York. She is continuing her graduate studies at the Graduate Center, CUNY.
