The Poetry Society of New York Launch Party

On Sunday, November 13th,The Poetry Society of New York, producers of The Poetry Brothel and the New York Poetry Festival, celebrate the launch of their latest publishing endeavors with a series of performances, installations, and of course, a raging dance party. Brothel Books, the publishing arm of The Poetry Brothel, is releasing two new chapbooks, Andalucía by Lisa Marie Basile and My Own Fires by Lauren Hunter, along with Volume I of The Translation Project’s first annual anthology. Guests will enjoy readings by Lisa Marie Basile and Lauren Hunter, as well as a bilingual, Spanish-English multi-media performance from The Translation Project. There will be a screening of Quartier Rouge, a quarterly video literary journal that attempts to bring the intimacy of poetry to the Internet. Information about The Poetry Society of New York’s brand new online poetry newspaper will also be provided. Pianist Jason Laney, violinist Tami Jaton, and DJ Maggie Wells will deliver the evening’s musical delights. Private poetry readings will be available courtesy of The Poetry Brothel. Doors open at 10pm and close at 2am. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased on (Le) Poisson Rouge’s website.
Join The Poetry Society of New York for a free, pre-party event: the first annual New York Poetry Pub Crawl. Guests should meet at Washington Square Park’s Giuseppe Garibaldi Monument at 8pm for a reading by Matthew Yeager, and bar hop to the poems of Melissa Broder and Ben Mirov, among others to be announced. The crawl will end at (Le) Poisson Rouge at 10pm.
