Remember, Remember the Fifth of November: A Guy Fawkes Party
The Bell House (149 Seventh Street, Brooklyn)
Remember, remember the fifth of November
Gunpowder, treason, and plot.
I see no reason why gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot.
In London, 1605, Guy Fawkes and his band of conspirators were foiled in their attempt to blow up English Parliament. Ever since, England has celebrated Guy Fawkes Day with bonfires, fireworks, and late-night revelry. This November 5th, we bring the holiday to Brooklyn. We’re skipping the bonfire (it is inside a bar, after all) and going straight to the late-night revelry, including:
-D.J. Ceremony (Oscillate Wildly, House of Commons) spinning Britpop hits for you to dance to
-free British snacks from the Chip Shop
-gift bags from Penguin Group including Shakespeare plays, Austen novels, and other classic British books (for the first 60 guests)
-giveaways from the acclaimed British music magazine Q
-Pimm’s cups, G&Ts, and other British bevvie
…and everything else you need to celebrate England’s best holiday in style. Bring your best British accent (real or fake). V for Vendetta masks optional.
